2025
Cordials Greetings to all members of the DFM Direction.
I am Érica Elias Venâncio, 19, attending the 1º Year of General Medicine at the Catholic University of Mozambique, Faculty of Health Sciences. I write this letter to inform about the year 2024 and how was the propaedeutic year; Last year was full of challenges, considering that I was in a new city and studying new things with new people and with many difficulties. The year 2024 was marked by the increase in the cost of living throughout the whole country that was aggravated by political tensions. Academically, it was not one of the best years I have ever had; I had some difficulties but fortunately I managed to transit the propaedeutic year. Because of the difficulties, I had the support of my colleagues and the whole family DfM /Apesmo. This support was very important to be able to endure and overcome all that happened to me during the year.
I also write to thank you all members of the board, in particular, the doctor Birgitta and Doctor Harry for the support and confidence they placed on me and I hope to show my gratitude this year, which is also More challenging than the propaedeutic year but I believe that with the help of all members of Apesmo/DFM, I will not only be able to overcome but I hope to do better than last year. Finally, I want to thank everyone for the computer that has been offered to us, despite being one for two people, I think it will help a lot; I’m immensely grateful. Without more of the moment, I want to wish you a great year.
2024
Greetings to all members of the board of Doctors for Mozambique foundation
My name is ÉRICA ELIAS VENÂNCIO, I was born on March 3, 2006 in the city of Chimoio and I have lived there since then.
Firstly, I would like to thank DfM together with APESMO, because thanks to your support my dream can become a reality.
Next I will tell you a little about my story: when my mother met my father they had the idea of going in search of a better life in the city of Chimoio because they lived in Nampula, once there my mother got pregnant and I was born, But 6 months after I was born, my father abandoned us, and my mother had to raise me alone. I was able to see my father a few times, but only a few times and he never helped with the expenses. I haven’t seen him in about 5 or 6 years. For some time during my childhood I had to stay at my mother’s friend’s house, because she had gotten a simple job and had no one to stay with me. I completed my primary level thanks to people from outside who helped some children where I studied. I did grades 8 and 9 at another school and grades 10, 11, and 12 at the boarding school in Mangunde . And today, thank God, I managed to win the DOCTORS FOR MOZAMBIQUE scholarship.
