SAD NEWS FROM ONE OF OUR STUDENTS
The average income in South Africa is 10 euros a day and unemployment is at 40%. In Mozambique, the average wage is 1 euro a day, so ten times lower. In the Mozambican districts, which border South Africa, people with guts still dare to seek their fortune in this neighboring country. Every day, many Mozambicans are sent back to their countries and there is a lot of violence against these illegal migrants. Unfortunately, the father of one of our students was killed in such violence. We try to support our student but the violent manner in which his father died has left him inconsolable.
After this somber news, we are happy to bring the good news.

DOCTORS FOR MOZAMBIQUE DELIVERS 13 NEW DOCTORS! HOW PROUD WE ARE OF OUR STUDENTS
In November, 13 scholarship students from Doctors for Mozambique graduated from the ‘Universidade Católica de Mozambique’ and received their degrees. They are now waiting to be appointed by the government as doctors in one of the many districts. This brings the total number of graduates from our foundation to 35.
Origin still counts heavily in Africa and studying costs a lot of money. We are therefore enormously proud to have offered these 35 talented poor young people a bright future. Of course, their families and fellow villagers also benefit from this success.
We are currently supporting 25 scholarship students spread across different years of study. Charts on the website give an overview of this.

THANKS
Doctors for Mozambique
My best Greetings to all the members of DFM.
It’s me Abrão Fernando Abrão, your new graduated Medical Doctor.
Well, I Will give a brief summary of my Journey whilst a student. During the Journey I had Ups and downs but never Lost the hope, trust and faith that God had a plan for me. I still remember the selection process for scholarship which took place in Nazaré with the purpose of saving lives. It was hard and transparent and fortunately I was One of the blessed students selected. Then in 2015 we started with the course, with anxiety and still unexperienced and dedicated as well. With help and orientation of other colleagues, mainly from DFM, I and others managed to succeed from propaedeutic year to first and so on till the end of the course without failing a year. It was a great and challenging battle.
In the internship field, I faced a lot of difficulties in the beginning being it the first contact with real patients in hospital but with help and support given I overcame.
Today and right now I Sing the song of victory just because of you DFM foundation that believed in me and supported me in all I needed to make my dream come true.
Thank you DFM Foundation. I won’t ever thank you enough for all you have been doing for me and other poor Mozambican youths.

NXP EINDHOVEN DONATES 10 COMPUTERS TO DOCTORS FOR MOZAMBIQUE

How surprised our students will be when they get their hands on these beautiful, almost new, computers. On our request to NXP to see if it would be possible to donate computers to our foundation, we immediately got a positive message back. In no time, 10 computers were ready to be picked up. What a fantastic gesture. We thank NXP very much for their generous donation. Soon, Harrie and Gitta will go to Mozambique again and hand them over to the students personally. To be continued…
