Luís Mubasso Victorino, born on May 7, 2007, in Sofala Province, Machanga District. I come from a humble family and live with my parents.
Due to the nature of my parents’ work, who were street vendors, my childhood was marked by constant moving, which led me to attend several primary schools. Over time, my family settled in Inhambane Province, Govuro District, where I was able to continue my studies.
Despite financial challenges, I completed high school at Doane Secondary School. My father always encouraged me to follow the path of business, since formal education was never a priority in my family. However, my determination and passion for knowledge drove me to persist in my studies. The support of teachers and participation in science fairs were fundamental to my academic trajectory, allowing me to obtain school materials and maintain motivation. With the efforts of my family and my dedication, I completed the 12th grade in 2024.
Thanks to God and my academic performance and dedication, I was selected by the DFM as one of the scholarship students at the Catholic University of Mozambique (UCM) for the General Medicine course. In 2025, I am about to start the preparatory year, a fundamental step towards realizing my dream of becoming a doctor and contributing to improving health in my community. I believe that my story of overcoming and commitment demonstrates my ability to face challenges and my desire to make a difference. With this opportunity, I will be able to change my trajectory and give back to society through medicine.
I am immensely grateful for the consideration and the opportunity.
Sincerely,
Luís Mubasso Victorino
